TheTeatros del Canalare at Calle Cea Bermúdez 1 in Chamberí. Let us be clear from the start:ÔVEN has no restaurant on that corner. The closest isÔVEN Fuencarral, around 2.2 kilometres away, best reached by metro or taxi rather than on foot.

Teatros del Canal and the neighbourhood

This is the Community of Madrid’s major performing arts complex: two large auditoriums, the Green Room, contemporary dance, chamber opera and festivals. Its programme is among the city’s most demanding, with performances usually starting at 19:30 or 20:00.

The surrounding area, however, is residential. Cea Bermúdez and Ríos Rosas have lunch menus for office workers, but considerably fewer options at night. It is an area where choosing your restaurant before leaving home is wise, especially if the show finishes after 22:00.

Getting there from ÔVEN Fuencarral

We will not call a half-hour walk “nearby”. These are the actual options:

AddressCalle de Fuencarral, 74, Madrid
On footAbout 2.2 km · around 28 minutes (estimated). Only if you fancy the walk
By metroCanal (L2, L7) to Tribunal (L1, L10), with one change: about 15–20 minutes
By taxi8 to 12 minutes, depending on traffic
MetroTribunal (L1, L10) and Bilbao (L1, L4)
Opening hoursSun–Thu, 12:00–00:00 · Fri–Sat, 12:00–01:00

In other words, if you want dinner two minutes from Canal, ÔVEN is not the right option, and we prefer to say so. If your plans allow a short journey, or you are eating beforehand with time to spare, it fits well.

If you are eating before an afternoon performance

With time to spare, lunchtime is when this plan works best:

After the show

ÔVEN Fuencarral’s kitchen closes atmidnight Sunday to Thursdayand at01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, so timing is not a problem: a show ending at 22:00 leaves plenty of time, even allowing for the journey.

The question is not whether you will arrive in time, but whether you feel like travelling. If so, Fuencarral and Tribunal have considerably more nightlife than Cea Bermúdez, which usually makes the journey worthwhile.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an ÔVEN near Teatros del Canal?

Not within a short walk. The closest is ÔVEN Fuencarral, at Fuencarral 74, about 2.2 kilometres from Cea Bermúdez 1: around 28 minutes on foot, 15–20 by metro with one change, or 8–12 by taxi. We would rather make that clear before you set off.

How do I get from Canal to Tribunal by metro?

Canal station is on lines 2 and 7, while Tribunal is on lines 1 and 10, so one change is needed. Allow around fifteen to twenty minutes in total, including the platform wait and the final walk.

Is it worth going to Fuencarral after a show?

It depends on your plans. If you only want dinner before heading home, perhaps not. If the evening continues, Tribunal and Fuencarral have far more places open after 23:00 than the Cea Bermúdez area, and ÔVEN’s kitchen serves until midnight or 01:00 depending on the day.

What about lunch before an afternoon performance?

That works well, as there is no time pressure. Monday to Friday, 13:00–16:00, there is a €14 set lunch menu, and the metro from Fuencarral to Canal gets you there comfortably for a 19:30 show.

ÔVEN has nine restaurants with the same menu: eight in Madrid —Preciados, Gran Vía 6, Gran Vía 55, Fuencarral, Atocha, Prado, BernabéuandLas Tablas— and one inMurcia.
