TheTeatro Nuevo Apolois at Plaza de Tirso de Molina 1, and the closest ÔVEN isÔVEN Preciados: about 900 metres, a twelve-minute walk along Calle Carretas towards Sol. It hosts major musicals and shows that finish late, so the kitchen’s closing time matters most.

Nuevo Apolo and its long performances

Nuevo Apolo stages musicals and large-scale productions, often lasting two and a half hours with an interval. Evening performances usually start at 20:00 or 20:30, finishing between 22:30 and 23:00.

That finishing time rules out much of the area: many kitchens around Tirso de Molina and Lavapiés close earlier. The realistic plan is dinner before the show or somewhere still serving after 22:30, and that is exactly the gap ÔVEN Preciados fills.

What to order before the musical

Two and a half hours in a theatre seat leave little room for a heavy meal. These work well:

If you visit at lunchtime,Monday to Friday, 13:00–16:00you can enjoy a€14 set lunch menu: starter, main course and dessert, with two choices for each, plus a drink, bread and coffee. A quick way to eat without a lengthy decision.

When the musical ends at eleven

ÔVEN Preciados’ kitchen closes atmidnight Sunday to Thursdayand at01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, and the restaurant opens at11:00. If the show ends at 22:45, there is time to head up to Sol and sit down to dinner without rushing.

This is the moment for dishes that do not fit before a show:Lasagna Bolognese, Oven-baked rigatonigratinéed, orLa Stella di ÔVEN, the house’s fresh filled pasta.

Groups and theatre dinners

Musical outings are often group occasions, and finding a table for a group in the centre at eleven at night is the hardest part. For more than six people, book and mention when the theatre finishes. Book atBookings.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take from Teatro Nuevo Apolo to ÔVEN Preciados?

About twelve minutes on foot, around 900 metres: head up Carretas to Puerta del Sol, then on to Preciados. By metro, it is one stop from Tirso de Molina to Sol on line 1. This is an estimate based on the addresses.

Are any kitchens still open after a show at Nuevo Apolo?

It is difficult in the theatre’s immediate surroundings because many local kitchens close before 23:00. ÔVEN Preciados serves until midnight Sunday to Thursday and 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.

Is there time for dinner before a 20:30 show?

Yes, if you sit down around 18:45. The walk to the theatre takes twelve minutes, so an hour and a half at the table leaves plenty of time. Mention the show when booking.

Is it better to eat before or after the show?

It depends on the start time. For a 20:00 or 20:30 performance, dinner beforehand means eating early and watching the clock; afterwards is more relaxed and avoids the mass departure from the theatre. For afternoon shows, dinner afterwards is also the better option.

ÔVEN has nine restaurants with the same menu: eight in Madrid —Preciados, Gran Vía 6, Gran Vía 55, Fuencarral, Atocha, Prado, BernabéuandLas Tablas— and one inMurcia.
